Grading Assessment

Semester Evaluation

  • Student performance is assessed through:
    • Mid-term tests
    • Assignments
    • Quizzes
    • Case studies
    • Other methods determined by course instructors

Grade Composition

  • Semester work contributes 50% to the final grade
  • Final examination contributes 50% to the final grade
  • A letter grade is awarded based on overall academic performance

Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculation

Types of Averages

  1. Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA)

    • Weighted average of grade points earned in a semester
    • Calculated using course credits as weights
  2. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)

    • Calculated across all semesters
    • Uses grade points from all courses
    • For repeated courses, only the most recent grade points are considered

Academic Standing and Probation

Minimum CGPA Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree: 2.00 CGPA
  • Graduate Degree: 2.50 CGPA

Probation Policies

Undergraduate Students

  • 1st Year: Minimum 1.00 CGPA required
  • 2nd Year and Above: Minimum 1.50 CGPA required
  • Students with CGPA below 2.00 will be:
    1. Placed on academic probation
    2. Receive warning
    3. Removed from university rolls after three consecutive semesters of probation

Graduate Students

  • 1st Year: Minimum 1.50 CGPA required
  • 2nd Year and Above: Minimum 2.00 CGPA required
  • Students with CGPA below 2.50 will be:
    1. Placed on academic probation
    2. Receive warning
    3. Removed from university rolls after three consecutive semesters of probation

Course Repetition Rules

  • Courses can be repeated if:
    • Student failed the course
    • Student wants to improve grade
  • Must repeat within one year of last course registration
  • Cannot improve grade after completing degree requirements

Study Duration Extension

  • One additional year (two semesters) may be granted for valid reasons
  • Students must pay new registration and normal fees
